Daily Walrus - Helping People Help Animals

January in Review | February 1, 2008

Even though we started writing posts for the Daily Walrus in late December, We thought it would be cool to look back at the first month of this project.  Here goes…

By simply clicking a button on our PC, laptop, and work computers, we donated at least 33.6 bowls of food to animals in shelters.

We helped you consider your dietary choices (here, here, and here).

We recycled our old cell phones to help out the Humane Society.

We called out Time Out New York for promoting bull riding.

We partied hard (twice).

We helped you avoid products tested on animals (here, here, and here).

We gave NJ’s Governer Corzine props.

We told you to take some new friends out for a walk.

We remembered a friend.

We gave you the scoop on pet auto safety (here, and here)

We stressed the importance of microchipping your pet, brushing their teeth, watching out for hidden poisons, helping out friends, and safely animal-proofing your trash.

We wasted time on the internet, picked up change, and shopped for animal charities.

And we gave you tips on spreading a message of animal compassion (here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here).

Stay tuned in February and the months to come for more easy ways to help animals.  Thanks for reading!!

  2. Hey Tony – this is Ryan. Doing all these things is the easy part. Remembering to frantically write a blog post explaining it all is the challenge.

About author

Hello - we are Jenny and Ryan, a couple living in Brooklyn, New York. We are both busy with school and work but try to take time to do something every day to make the world a better place for animals. Occasionally we may link to outside websites for additional resources, but we do not necessarily endorse all policies of these organizations. Despite the title of our blog, the focus is not only on walruses. So what's with the title? We named this blog after our cat, Wally, aka The Walrus. We are the proud parents of two cats (Wally and Tito) and one dog (Luigi).
